A native of Monrovia, Liberia-West Africa, and a naturalized American Citizen. I graduated with honors from Allen High School in Asheville, North Carolina and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech/Communications, and Journalism from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I have had the opportunity to work in radio and television as an Account Executive and Radio Announcer. Starting as an entrepreneur at age 25, I purchased my first home and starting a retail beauty supply business in Minnesota.
This entrepreneurial journey resulted in: 12 retail stores, 2 beauty salons, 2 recording studios, an Independent Record Label, a nightclub, a Dry-cleaning business, a car wash, a snowball stand, and a Talent and Modeling agency. I divorced in the mist of my entrepreneurial journey and continued my expedition into Mississippi. Overcoming barriers in Mississippi, I became the writer and advisor of the “Ask Ms. Rose” Column and Community Happenings for the Columbia Press Newspapers. I was also the producer and host of “It’s Real”, a live talk radio show on WJMG-FM Radio in Hattiesburg Mississippi. During the culmination of my entrepreneurial height, I was caught up in the brutal path of Hurricane Katrina which blew me on to the invigorating soil of Georgia. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I worked for Dillard’s Atlantic Station location as a Manager for three years. During that period, I attended Barney Fletcher Real Estate School and obtained my Real Estate license.
I wrote and self-published a book titled, “I Am Happy. Who Are You?” As a high-achiever and leader, I continue to reach for the stars never once hesitating to be all that I strive to be. I have a deep passion for motivating and empowering people with hope and aspiration. I am currently a Foster Parent of Cobb County. 2018 I was honored as Georgia Region 13 and Cobb County Foster Parent of the Year. I received the National Adoption Month 2019 Award from Amerigroup. I have fostered over 160 children. I work closely with the birth parents during the process and continue a relationship with the family after the children are returned home. I have a deep love for children and do everything in my power to help them become the best they can be.
I am currently the President of Cobb County Foster Adoptive Parents Association and a 5 year volunteer for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. I’m also a member of the International Civitan. Past participations: Member of the St. Paul, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Consultant for the Neighborhood Development Center, a Non-Profit of Western Bank in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Pearl River Valley Opportunity Non-Profit Organization in Columbia, Mississippi. I am the current Founder/CEO of Down 7 Up Incorporated, a 501©3 non-profit. After fostering hundreds of children in care, and understanding their plight, I decided to do more to help make a greater difference. My hobbies include writing, reading, traveling, dancing, and loving life.

Board Member-Dana Peterson
My name is Dana Peterson and I reside in Marietta, GA with my husband, Craig. We have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren; our family and extended family are extremely supportive of our family ministry of fostering. Our family was called into this ministry of fostering with Cobb County DFCS during the summer of 2011 and have had the privilege of fostering, providing respite and/or providing short term emergency placements for over 135+ children. We will soon be adopting our wonderful son who has been a part of our family for the past 4 + years and we will continue to have his siblings’ visit in our home monthly as they are still a part of our family, even though they now live with their dad and paternal grandmothers in different homes! My husband and I also both work full-time. I am in the insurance industry and currently work for a third-party administrator as an Account Manager in the employee benefits field. Craig accomplishes IT work for a restaurant management company. We are currently looking for a new home church and have been active in several churches with foster/adoptive ministry’s and played active roles in these ministries and as teachers.
Currently, I serve as the Secretary for the Cobb County Foster Adoptive Parent Association (CCFAPA). In 2013, I was honored to be presented the “Servant’s Heart" Award by the CCFAPA for my role as the secretary and newsletter editor, as well as serving on the Christmas committee, amongst various other roles. My husband and I have both been on the Advisory Board since we were rookie foster parents in 2011. On this board, we share ideas and brainstorm with other members and DFCS on how we can continue our partnership and assistance towards the foster families in Cobb. Since 2012, We have been mentors to many foster families in order to help them acclimate to the world of fostering. Also, I partner with several community leaders and their companies in Cobb County to coordinate donations for those who want to support foster families. I enjoy public speaking and sharing the story of how fostering can change the lives of children and how you can step up and help in some small way if you just have a few minutes in your day.
I currently maintain all the communication for the Board and Association on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and our website. I continue to help with Cobb Moms for Must and Cobb Moms Helping Moms. I also love serving with the local Must Pantry in my community and am excited to be a part of the Down 7 Up 8 Board!
